Tawny color, deep and darker than the old Grivot. Wonderful aromatics in the nose. Old Rhone syrah nose with notes of light fruit, dried brush and a little medicine. Memorable finish.

Lunch in Yountville for my wife’s birthday (decorum prevents discussing numbers, though I can’t even count that high!?!?) — decanted off the sediment, intense bacon fat and smoky notes, wine is in amazing condition, great on palate, really shows that rustic Cornas character, super long finish, really a spectacular Verset Cornas, cheers to Noel Verset!!!

One of the greatest N Rhone experiences I have had. Amazing aromatics that explode from the glass. Black cherry, raspberry, meaty, licorice spice, black pepper, very floral with violets & dried herbs so elegant, still very youthful, with great weight and fruit structure. The 85 may be his best vintage.
