Northstar
Columbia Valley Merlot
It’s delicious and moderately priced. It could used a little more focus and structure but just drink it

Aug 27th, 2019This is 75% Merlot, 23% Cabernet and 2% Petit Verdot. On the nose, ripe fruits of; blackberries, black cherries, black plum, plum & cherries. Loamy soils, vanilla, cinnamon, anise and dry dark florals. The body and M+ tannins are velvety, spices that rise off the palate with heated intensity, mocha, caramel, blackberries, black cherries, black plum, plum & cherries, pepper, dry crushed rocks, nice perfumed red florals with good acidity and a round lush finish that opens up quickly with a short time in the glass. Photos of their estate vines showing their loamy sandy soils, tasting room and German made stainless steel tanks that are programmed for push downs three times a day during fermentation. These German made tanks are well made and I'm sure cost a bloody fortune. German manufacturing is simply world best!

May 23rd, 2020Color is dark purple, almost opaque. Nose is soft and refined, with oak, dried strawberries and black cherry, tobacco leaves, and mix of more cigar box and oak. Nose is warm and fragrant. Taste follows the nose with nice balance of refined sweetness and acidity, oak, vanilla, and dark fruits including cherry and ripe grapes, a bit peppery, quality tannins and a touch of nice mineral. Tasty. Aftertaste of more subtle sweetness, pepper, mineral, oak, and a bit minty. At her peak. Enjoy.
