Blackberry and pepper. You don't need to try to find spice. It's quite silky, a wet silky. Comes from the Syrah. Interesting spice, maybe cardamom...nope, too warm. Maybe mace. A form of lavender, maybe silver lavender. For us to try to guess all these spices is amazing. But a let-down on the palate. A lack of something. Just get watery $18/92pts SWS206

Dark cherry & plum fruit, spice, earth, tobacco & violet. Seems to be entering a nice spot for current drinking.

Nice drinking Crozes

30+ minutes open in the bottle. Dark purple color. Nose seems tight and restrained. I do get pretty big aromas of cherry and some shoe leather. Flavor is equally restrained leading me to think it has many years ahead of it. Very fruit forward, but lacks depth and any distinguishable characteristics. Short finish, almost no finish. Was much better with food (roasted peppers and pork tenderloin).
