Pax Mahle Wines
North Coast Syrah
North Coast, California, USA

Dark Ruby color with blue and black fruit aromas, spicy, slightly herbal/floral nose. The palate shows cherry, blueberry and blackberry fruit with pepper spice, lively acidity, firm tannins. Medium finish ending with fruit, slight spice and floral notes. While it’s ok, I was expecting the Northern Rhone style. Will try again in a few years.

2023 vintage. Gets the scraps from the other, superior efforts and still comes in too quickly and screeching the brakes. $28 a bottle resto cost. Medium-heavy body and the entry-level Syrah. Smoky, gamey and meaty with a token amount of the "pretty" Syrah qualities that move the needle. 10.8.25.
