Overripe. Too much oak. Tastes ok but our palates say too much.

Sipping Fine Wine

Vibrant Ruby with complex aromas of berries, floral and herb notes. On the palate sweet cherry fruit, sourced from several vineyards, with notes of dried fruits, some pepper spice and earthy oak notes. Aged for 10 months on French oak, fine soft tannins, lingering carrying fruit and earthy oak to finish. Very nice.

Lynn Penner-Ash and her husband, Ron, started Winery in 1998, focusding on small-lot productions. A beautiful nose with berry and floral scents dancing in the glass. Fresh fruit flavors, raspberry and sweet cherry, hints of vanilla spice, great balance with acidity. Firm tannins, lingering finish ending with cedar tones and a nudge of pepper. An enjoyable Pinot at a reasonable price. Has short term aging benefits, but why wait.

Last night I had dinner at Harry & Izzys Steakhouse in Indianapolis, IN and had the 2014 Penner Ash Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.
I had this with the 20oz Bone in Ribeye, grilled asparagus, French Onion Soup, redskined potatoes and creme brulee. This wine went very well with the meal.

The wine had a very tight nose and I had to swirl a lot in order to get it to open up. Once I did there were black berries, black cherry, cranberry, strawberry, cherry cola, anise, spice, tobacco and some smoke.

On the palate there was strawberry, raspberry, red plum, spice, cherry, mushroom and some forest floor.

This wine is medium bodied, medium to medium + acidity, medium silky tannins with a clean long finish.

A nice wine with enjoyable company makes for a wonderful evening. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷.

Mixed wild berry & wild dark flowers on the nose. Ripe & juicy wild berries, raspberries, dark cherries, cherries & cooked strawberries, elegant dark minerality and wet black soil, bid acid and good consistent wire to wire polished finish.
