Perticaia
Montefalco Sagrantino

Very earth driven wine and the first in the flight that really showed that slightly oxidized/stewed character. Still beautiful. Meaty, leathery fruit, truffle in the background.

Nose of musk, earth, green pepper, a bit of vanilla. The pallet is stewed cherries with a little forest floor. Tannins still there side of the tongue and acidity tip and top of the tongue. I'd say if drank in 2016 this would hit a 9 ranking. Solid, but maybe slightly past peak.

Tannic, surprisingly light fruit nose, smooth finish. Should have decanted.

Intense dark coloured, blckcurrants, cherries, chocolate, mineral. Tannic, acidity, needs some time still.

A new favorite. An Umbra region bottle, which I hadn't tasted before. Great finish.
