Drinking so well still! I was expecting a tired wine but this was pulsating with primary and tertiary notes. A beautiful nose rose easily from the glass with sour cherry, raspberry, balsamic, leather, and sandalwood, with subtle notes of crushed stones. Medium bodied, with medium and fine grain tannins, a long, gentle finish is fresh and persistent.

2020/3/28-29, with farinata and Maremman pollo all’aceto, then Roman-style favas with onions and pancetta and some ham and cheeses.
I love this wine; the 2017 is a plump, fragrant, characterful Chianti, but can be just a touch on the volatile side at times - that was accentuated in day 2 as it seemed the vacu-stopper didn’t seal properly and the wine got more air than ideal overnight.

This is a bit broader, more diffuse, softer and browner (spices) than the 2016, which is more focused and detailed. Still very nice
