Bigger primal fruit than several other 1996s I have had recently. There is a somewhat distracting sweet rubber “scratch off” element that opens in the wine with more exposure to air. It is lacking the sous bois and animal elements I generally prefer in these wines.

Peaked. Rich cherry and very earthy. Still punchy but glad I drank this now. Always wonderful wine.

Deep, rich, tar, wood. Hits you over the head in a good way. Paired with Giacomo of same year, a 1996 Barolo tasting, and Giacomo more my style.
