Rendezvous Red Bordeaux Blend
I have tasted many of the top wines made on the east coast, these guys while new have made a tremendous impact in such a short time period.
This bottle was better than the last, especially getting time to savor it over a few hours.
If you are in the DC area or traveling through head an hour west and check out @rdvvineyards in the Middleburg AVA of northern Virginia.
More Merlot in the blend here offers an earlier approachability for a superb wine that has a plush core of deep red fruits, plum, graphite, purple florals, cocao and toast. A refined structure that frames the plush and pleasing fruit component well, it then transitions well into a contrast of energetic and persistence on the elegant, but deeply finish. The mid palate on this is insane, so deep and pure!

Apr 17th, 2017Of the 2 main wines from RdV this has a higher proportion of Merlot and is thus an earlier drinker, giving more immediate pleasure and complexity.
The oak is noticeable but not in the way as it buffers fresh and ripe red and blue fruits, a shade of spice and a hint of mocha.
Drink now or over the next 4-7 years.

2012 tasted in 12/2018. Deep garnet, medium to full bodied. Wonderful perfume of black cherries, floral notes, and wet stone. Opens up substantially in the glass. Decanting will coax out an enchanting bouquet. Palate characterized by not overly ripe red to black fruit character with great acid structure, tannins still young at this time. A well crafted wine such as this can handle some time in the cellar. An ABV of 14.5% would suggest a bolder, riper red but the depth, complexity, and balance of this wine is unrivaled among East Coast reds with the notable exception of similar blends from Linden. Very lovely with an old world style.

Jul 30th, 2016Gorgeous blend--smells heavenly, medium bodied, notes of leather, tobacco, light oak, not too much fruit. Even better than we remembered from our tasting at the vineyard.
