La Landonne Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Brought to RH on Yountville. At first it has high pitched nose, almost strawberry. But with air this settles in to show more of an earthy core of fruit and dark berries that was balanced with a minimalist structure. Representative of the vintage, and a serviceable Syrah.

Birthday splurge for my dad’s 70th. Beautiful fruit still showing but not in a juicy way. Silky texture. Very complex wine that you have to be careful not to chug. Paired great with lamb bolognese. Would have loved to drink this 5 years ago and would love to drink this again 5 years from now.

‘Bout a mile past sublime, with 10+ yrs more to go. Rich, almost decadent.
