Another last of its kind wine as the San Mateo moved to Alesia label after this vintage. This young blend is really singing right now with bright red fruit and cedar spice and well balanced acidity. A candidate for short term aging, but the freshness of the fruit really shines now.

Nov 25th, 2022Baf food pairing (a rich lentil stew) made this initially come off as really flat. On the nose: soft wild strawberry, baking spice, jolly rancher. On the palate: ok acidity to start, a touch flat, mothball, then some grapeseed bitterness, and a very soft, very finely grained tannin. Very nice finish. This needs time, and a better food pairing.
