Quite the treat! Wouldn’t hold it any longer.

Young nose on fruit aromas with spices, oak, but all well integrated. On the palate it is also pretty young, balanced and air did improved the wine, especially to make disappear the dry finish and heat the finish showed at first. Then, so beautiful with fruit flavors, spices, tobacco and just a hint of cedar wood. Excellent (92)

Tasted at a dinner with wine “buddies”

Blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Was aged in 100% new French oak. Alcohol level of 13,5%

Beautiful bottle. Surprisingly fresh aromas of plum, sweet tobacco, currant, mint. Plush and layered in the mouth - chocolate, cherry, mint. Everything is integrated on the finish where the texture and power push through. Youthful and a big, balanced wine that still has years ahead and in a great drinking space now.

Yep. This one was good though. My goodness, each sip lasts 30 mins.

Disappointed this 1997 was corked! The opening of this wine brought aromas of wet newspaper, also a burnt flavor. Trying this there was a little fruit on back palate, but clearly disappointed. It happens even to great vintners.

Almost cloying in the mouth. Needs more time to shed the fat

From the glory days. A very good bottle from a vintage that was flashy and opulent and not considered as cellar worthy as others. A little VA on the nose with some smoke and black cherry. Palate still fleshy with a modest tannic grip.

13.5% Mondavi reserve from 1997. What a lot of fun to try. Not sure what kinda year this was in Napa, but this is delicious. Perfect pairing with prime steaks on the grill - tons of dark red fruit with great refinement and acid on the finish. Really excellent.
