Nose is a little cheesy/leesy, which never quite blows off. The palate comes across as much younger and fresher, with clean citrus and a pickup truck full of minerality. Really lovely way to start a dinner. Yum.

1996 as well. Amazingly fresh, great mouthfeel and bubbles. Just outrageously good. One of the best champagnes I've ever drunk. Just brilliant

DR BdB 1996 - toasty, brioche, opulent, but delicate. Simply lovely. And shared w great friends makes it even better.

1996 vintage magnum - travelling well when some concerns raised about 96 vintage from other houses - tight, austere with high acidity and some mineral - matched superbly with coal roasted quail, tahini, pomegranate and fried cauliflower - very memorable
