Structured in tannin, bright acidity, linear mid palate and finish, this one will stand the test of time. Hold onto this for the next 30+ yrs.

This seemed to me to have a potential to age gracefully over several decades.

Absolutely one of the best wines I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced, amazingly well integrated oak, blackberry and black currant flavors with nice Napa dustiness. If I could ever afford to buy my own bottle I would!

Note: I decanted AND SWIRLED for at least an hour before this began to open it. This has plenty of life left in it, or at least the bottle I tried did!

1999 Screaming Eagle. Dinner at Tos w Mc and K. Thought it might be too young, but it was smooth and really lovely. We all enjoyed this wine. Decanted just before serving and that was enough.

1999 Screaming Eagle. Wolf w J&L B and J&J D. Such a treat. Drank this first of the reds and it was spectacular. Massive and still young, as to be expected, but still so balanced and with that wonderful mouth-coating velvety texture. Huge oak, vanilla, spice, and some acidity as well. Really complex and hard to distinguish all the different things going on. We all really, really enjoyed this wine and it was drinking wonderfully despite its youth. Thumbs up.

Not the greatest vintage, but a real treat. Great fruit aromas, silky smooth, well crafted a hint of RS... HB style for sure! A good amount of sediment, but very typical for an older Cali CA. I would recommend resting the wine vertically for a few days, then decant and enjoy!
