Shafer Vineyards
Hillside Select Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon
This was pop and pour and drank over three days. Amazing!! Everything in balance, great structure and nothing sticks out or doesn’t belong. Absolutely loved this!

May 6th, 2020I wouldn’t touch this for a decade if I owned it but with a decent it was showing well now

May 1st, 2019This 2014 has shut down completely. Very little being offered up but with some vigorous swirling, faint hints of purple and black fruit emerge followed by dark chocolate and flowers. Full bodied and robust, this will need a decade in the cellar of a long decant.

Mar 27th, 2024Decanted for 3 hours. Loads of blue and black fruit. The acid and tannins are in harmony. Great pairing with braised short ribs and truffle risotto.

Nov 24th, 2019@Ryan Mullins and @Jeff Loo are spot on. This needs 10 years. I double aerated back into bottle for 12 hour corked decant and after two hours open in glass this is still closed. You can still taste the potential though. There is a density and purity of fruit behind it that I’m excited to open up one day. Was still a great experience. 94 for now. Will hold remaining bottles for at least 5 years. Please yell at me if u see another post of this wine before then.
