An absolute brute this is, very difficult not to pucker up your face after each mouthful. Just tonnes of acidity, tannin, and liquid rock cherries! Some orange zest atop the classic rose and tar, big body and massive chewy, chalky midpalate. While this is quite something to behold, and challenging to drink now, and impossible to quaff back, it will be real interesting to study as it ages, it certainly has the stuffing, but will it stay balanced through the next 40 years? Definitely worth checking out.

Earthy, elegant single-vineyard Barolo from the Bricco Luciani vineyard (in Piemontese dialect, bricco is the top of a hill, the portion with maximum sunshine) in Annunziata hamlet, to the west of La Morra, an area known for a lighter, more aromatic, approachable style. Crimson with orange hue at the rim of the glass. Brooding cherry. Subtly perfumed with notes tar, dark spice and licorice characteristic of the Nebbiolo grape and maybe hints of sloe (pacharán liquor). Long, sandy tannins. Intense
