Apparently not a great vintage for Barolo and it showed, albeit from one of my favorite producers. — 7 months ago

Specialita Silvio Amaro Meletti Liquore

I love amaro and one of my favorites is Meletti. It’s a perfect after dinner drink. Caramel, cocoa, saffron, anise, sandalwood. Bellissimo! — 2 years ago

Still really great acidity, and ripe fruit, the cork disintegrated upon trying to open, but was not dry. Surprisingly very very good. — 4 years ago

Asili Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2015

Medium+ garnet, with a tinge of orange-brown color around the rim. Raspberry and cherry nose, along with that pencil shavings smell. Second hour of air, secondary scents unfolded with some mint, spices and lightly roasted coffee beans. Feels quite Burgundian. Silky tannins. Not much gripping. Mid weight on the palate. Nice acidity; not overly tart. Surprisingly long. The taste lingered for quite a while. 91-92. — 7 years ago

Vallegrande Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Tried 3 times over the last 4 weeks. This is still a winner (sometimes I need to backtrack - wtf was I thinking but not here). Powerful tannins - but comes across as light and elegant with 10+ years aging potential. A ton of fruit even after 10 years. Mostly cherry 🍒. Roses 🌹, leather, violets 😈, touch Fernet-Branca. Will cellar some and that says it all. — 3 months ago

Lovely Barbaresco, a bit light in color but nice in taste.
Not too heavy but brings a nice flavor of full body.
Not so tart and harsh as the one 2 days agon from Verduno.
The owners of the Vineyard Ca del Baio are 3 sisters, one went to school with Alessandro from Casa Ressia.
Excellent price for this wine.

v05. Exceptional. Decant. Soft, fruit soaked toasted oak nose. Bold, deep, rich, blackberry fruit with prune and tar hints. Velvety soft, yet firm, slightly astringent long, lean chocolate finish. — 4 months ago

Paolina Barbera d'Alba 2024

This was cherries in a bottle. Tart, bright red and black cherries. Slight earthy component. Was slightly overpowered by some of the cheeses on the board but was a good pairing. Put a slight chill on it to 65 degrees. — 5 months ago

Marcarini Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2011

Still youthfully dark in color with a very slight browning on rim. Upon opening still very tight and shy on nose. Decided to decant this for 3.5h prior our Christmas dinner and it started to open around 3h mark. Then it was a great Barbaresco from Treiso offering slightly darker side of Nebbiolo expression with ripe cherry, some leather and smoke, fine pepper notes. Healthy acidity and fine tannins offers solid back bone for further aging and development. I take this is 2-3 years from peak and should continue to drink several years after that. Glad I have 2 more bottles. This was a fabulous qpr back then at 23€/bottle — 6 years ago
