Fay Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Between a 92-93 here. This was tasted briefly at pop and pour and was then consumed from the decanter over the next few hours. Really pretty aromatics…baking spices, dark cocoa shavings, violets and plenty of freshly squeezed dark fruits. The palate has a “juicy” profile I get on a lot of 2012s. Vibrant acidity. Blackberries and underripe blueberries dominate the fruit profile with a unique herbal/juniper type note towards the finish. Not super complex or layered. After time, this really softened. Good now, maybe gets a bit better with another 5yrs, but not sure it increases much.

I think I prefer the S.L.V. over this, but I could be swayed depending on the day! Much more old world feel to me. Complex.

This is a great vintage for this wine. A full compliment of both dark and red fruits along with a chalky density to wrap it all up in a pretty package. Very expressive but well balanced and full bodied.

Drinking do well now - yum

Fay is the pretty one, blue-fruited and perfumed, with a little more overt expression and plumpness in this vintage. SLV shows more long-term promise.

Perfectly good now, velvet smooth and subtle.

Huge spicy nose with cinnamon dark berries pepper and and allspice. Yet Very light and balanced on the tongue. Buttery and smooth yet lots of depth. Daryl and Katie for my birthday at their house.

Fine wine weekend

Rich tart good oily mouthy feel. Rich berry oaky good balance with tannins and not acidic no spice very rich. Could use more time aging but wakes up
