Taltarni
Cabernet Sauvignon
Another bargain picked up at auction several years ago, tucked away in the cellar. Could happily have sat there for at least another decade, ‘though I’d say it’s an excellent time to drink this one. Serious wines, these Taltarnis, with their proper concentration and structure. Can’t just open them frivolously. Sternness over affability. But given time to unfurl, it’s full of seductively rich dark fruit, liquorice, hints of dark chocolate and tight core of relentless tannins. Each sip is intriguing. Best with food for sure, but on its own it gives pause to contemplate. Lovely stuff.

Jun 10th, 2023Whoa, this one has some solid grip! Still has the pronounced acid and tannin of youth, with lots of primary dark fruit. Medium-full body. And did I mention that grip? Persistent...very persistent...tannins. But it’s pretty delicious, just needs even more time. Nice.

Jun 10th, 2018Rich perfumed nose with hints of mint, leather and blackberries. Chewy black fruit and spice on the palate with a dusty tannin grip. Still young but drinking beautifully. Delicious!
