Pale lemon with pronounced stone fruit and citrus aromas. On the palate flavors of apple and citrus with lively acidity, minerality and spice. Medium finish ending with fresh fruit and a touch of stony citrus mineral notes.

Fresh grapey aromas with Bath Talc. Light to medium weight palate. Finishes bone dry (12.5% Alc) with mouth puckering acidity. Not dissimilar to a young Australian Riesling. Tough to drink after a 2015 Dr Loosen with residual sweetness (8.5% Alc). With time the acidity tamed. Long future ahead.

An unbelievably good value entry level riesling - Great, stony mineral touch with underripe apricot and some toasted nuttiness, interesting but restrained. In the mouth there is a great snap of salty minerality, a stony grip on the back end with snappy lemon & lime sherbet.

Perhaps the benchmark Riesling globally; how is it tasting these days? Pale yellow in color, excellent clarity. Sulfite and barnyard initially in nose. Lemon, melon and peach flavors, some skin astringency in finish. Mineral aftertaste. After an hour, malolactic flavor and Riesling character emerge. Good crispness, I prefer this as an aperitif, but should pair well with food.

It would be unwise to underestimate the quality and complexity of Trimbach’s entry level wines, particularly the Riesling. Racy salt-preserved lemon, Granny Smith apple, orchard blossoms, ginger and shimmering minerality are what define this wine in addition to its petrol-forward personality. What it might lack in textural richness it more than compensates for with lovely freshness and kinetic energy on the palate. Outstanding vintage. (Kittens not included)

Consistently one of the best entry-level Riesling from the region.

Ripe yellow apple, apricot, lemon, limestone, petrol, yellow flowers, touch of almond, wool, ginger. Sounds like a lot but there are so many layers! 💯
