Nose has blackberry jam, old cedar closet, wet leather, dried blueberries, dried cherries and moist mahogany shavings.

Palate has blueberry jelly with a dash of cayenne, blackberry fruit leather, humid cocoa powder, dried tart cherry with a long finish. The blueberry jelly notes persist for 1-2m, amazing.

Decanted 5H at time of notes, continuing to evolve. 🥳 Enjoy 2026-32, from proper storage.

Paired with our Superbowl Sunday traditional feast, pulled pork. This year were going local (as always) with both pork shoulder and ham hocks from our bi-annual purchase of one-half piggy from Highland Farm (Old Chatham, NY); love your farmers! Shoulder was dry rubbed and rested, then into the slow cooker for 9H, talk about falling apart!

Pork shoulder and hocks for two...I pretty much know what my lunch is going to be for about the next two weeks. 😋

Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion into the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again.

8hr decant. Nose of oak/cedar/cherry, spicy raspberry. Palate has raspberry/cedar jam, mocha dust, many years to go... Next bottles should be 2026+

I thought this might be a good partner to a simple homemade bolognese and it proved so. 4 hr decant and this is a silky beast. @Severn Goodwin‘s notes from 2018 apply. Lots of cedar, oak, and Napa mountain notes. Red fruits play third fiddle. Burley and beautiful.

97 degrees in the Sacramento valley (hey, they say it's a dry heat, but damn it's still hot)!!....time for some pool, pizza, and Zin! Pop and pour. A mystical dark ruby red. On the nose: cherry, vanilla, spice. Taste: dark cherry, blackberry, pepper, some currents and chocolate on the end.

Deep, rich nose - raspberry purée and baking spices stand out. Red forest berries with secondary cedar, bark, and tobacco flavors. A slight hint of alcohol on the finish, but impressively well integrated. Feels like a fireside, winter wine.
