The 2022 Old Vines Zinfandel brings together many historic California vineyards that don’t provide enough fruit for Turley to make a single vineyard bottling. Traditionally, it’s one of the great buys in CA wine. This year’s release (10/24) is a dusty ruby color with a nose rich in red berry, cherry and earth. It’s smooth and light — fresh, even — with bright acidity, mild tannins and a strawberry finish. However, it’s not as concentrated as some years and perhaps some more time in the bottle will bring out the deeper elements.
