Vitanza
Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

2006. A happy accident tonight. Ordered an 09 by another producer but the newbie server brought this instead. After a bit of research we agreed to this selection and boy were we happy. Started out a bit akimbo but 20 minutes in it began to shine, getting brighter with each pour. So glad I declared 2017 to be our year of Italian wine. With this rich, elegant, and complex treat as our opener, we are in for some great adventures.

90 rating. Lovely Tuscan - classic nose, dark cherries, even a bit of earthy gravel - could earn the aia suffix. Great with a cingale and papardelle pasta.
