Feb 12th, 2018Pretty, and subtle aromatically with the requisite matchstick. Tight lemon citrus acidity, with some phenolic character in the finish. Finishes with long mineral chalk like character.

Aug 6th, 2017Has all the trademarks we love in white burgundy but distinctly OR. Focus and nerve meet textural tension for a wine that almot contradicts itself; rich yet lean, giving yet restrained. As always these are some of my favorite chards from US. Lovely and pure orchard fruits, white flowers, leesy notes, deeply mineral and taut breadth across the palate. Yum yum yum

Feb 20th, 2021Has a definite sorbet quality with a funky burnt popcorn note at the beginning which opens up to baking spice and fresh banana aromas. More banana and citrus on the palate with a slightly weighty mouthfeel leading to a fresh finish.

Jul 17th, 2017God, the hype with these Walter Scott chards is so, so real. Great people too, had an awesome and insightful visit with Erica earlier this week at their facilities. Dense, elegant, tightly coiled, complex, impeccable balance. Certainly has that "simultaneous richness and freshness" x-factor that, IMO, all great Chardonnays should have. Concentrated nose of lemon curd, just-ripe Granny Smith apple and starfruit, ample saline, crushed oyster shell minerality, lightly toasted almond, brioche dough and fresh baked pretzel, parmigiano reggiano rind, fresh heavy cream, and a bit of nutmeg and baking spices from already near-perfectly integrated new oak. On the palate the nose is echoed pretty thoroughly in terms of flavor albeit with even more mineral intensity. Ample, high acidity, medium (-) body but with incredible rich, slightly oily texture from the barrel fermentation and elevage on lees. Great length on the palate. Would certainly reward a cellaring but is so hard to keep hands off of now. Amazing that this is their "entry level" Chardonnay.
