A little nervous about this one, since it’s 15.4%. But I made a Friulian Gulasch, which calls for a biggie, so I popped it. It’s actually a very good match with the dish. Deep, pungent berry fruit, with smoky notes, and loads of Northern Rhone-reminiscent granitic earth. Rich, but not jammy, in the mouth. Actually softer and more subdued than I expected. Decent acids. Lengthy, rich finish. I’m surprised I liked this one as much as I did.

High alcohol but delicious Syrah with pork tenderloin ($20). Preferred Armour Heliotrope ($29) from Royal Slope Wenatchee WA.

Quite nice with pork tenderloin ($20). High alcohol, but fruity with a smooth finish.

N: Funk, in the best way. PnP. Pepper and blackness.
P:Mincemeat, ripe black plums, Rich @°15.4 but not overbearing. Lots of mouth coating tarry spice, Big and black.
No tannic grip, more of a slide.
