The 02 vintage for Williams Selyem proves to very good regardless of vineyard. The fruit and the acidity are beautiful. They prove to be truly great farmers of fruit. The black raspberries, raspberries are unmistakably WS. The nose has; deep spice, dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, dark cherries & black plum. Tree sap, mint, eucalyptus, crushed dry rocks, dry top soil, forest floor, dark fruit liqueur notes, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanillin & decayed dark florals. The body is full and resolved but still has plenty of grippy tannins. The length, tension, structure and balance are in great harmony and show plenty of life ahead. The palate fruits are ripe; dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, raspberries, poached strawberries, dark cherries & black plum. Tree sap, mint, eucalyptus, menthol, steeped fruit infused tea, crushed dry rocks, dry top soil, forest floor, herbaceous notes, dark fruit liqueur, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanillin, violets & decayed dark florals. The long, beautiful finish is complex and gives you a rotation of all its palette board characteristics and than repeats itself over & over on the three plus minute finish.

Sep 25th, 2014Beautiful and fresh RRV black cherry, raspberry, and plum fruit at 14yrs with impossibly silky and full texture with some subtle spice. Smooth and elegant with a nice peak of juicy acidity filling the middle with a long long finish. Outstanding.
