Bravo. This wine carries a more subtle sweetness but maintains a predominately beautiful savoury flavour profile that is complimented by black and blue fruit interludes. Solid structure, brilliant acidity and profound length (as you expect). Such a belting wine and amazingly can be significantly enhanced with more time in the cellar. — 9 years ago
Serious wine. Surprisingly after a good decant it was still quite tight but after a good amount of time it was singing like a soprano. Savoury tart like red cherry flavour with amazingly maintained structure and acidity . Superb — 9 years ago
Instantly grappled by persistent smells of leather, cassis and coca. After 8 years it's great to see everything in this wine is so settled and harmonious. Blackcurrant and chocolate all the way with this palette. Smooth and smashing. Yum. — 10 years ago
Big and sweet. Absolutely 0 green stalk flavour. Sacrifices structure in favour of a really lush and powerful red fruited flavour profile. Like liquified cherry pie. Larger than life, almost like a syrah in style. Bold, pugnacious and unique. Beautiful. — 9 years ago
1995 vintage...blissful. The fruit Rockford use for this wine is truly something to behold. Only 14% alcohol this is a masterclass in the limitless prospects of Barossa Shiraz as far as pedigree and ageing potential are concerned. What really commanded my attention the whole time I was drinking this wine was the serious vanilla undertone that gave the wine a smooth texture that was quite simply awe-inspiring. Black current and Christmas cake...you know the deal, believe the hype. — 9 years ago
I initially feared that this wine would be past its use by date. Could not have been more (happily) mistaken. After an hour in the decanter it was singing. Elegant and medium bodied with a terrific ensemble of flavours such as cassis, black olive, tobacco and black cherry. Perfectly suited to the leg of lamb I had for my Sunday roast. — 9 years ago
I really wanted to enjoy this wine but it fell flat. One of my friends told me you should never drink aged cabernet expecting it to be a crowd pleaser, he was right. It is a brilliantly made wine in terms of structure and acidity but still too tannic and grippy on the palette. Maybe it's indicative of the wine's superb structure but not my bag at all. Definitely seeing how cabernet is the thinking man's wine... — 9 years ago
Stone fruits and pear on the nose. Tasted notes of lime, honey and a dash of passionfruit. Brilliant acidity with a persistent back palette finish. Crazy mouthfeel-almost has a soda/sparkling texture to it. — 10 years ago
