Substance makes one of the best <$20 wines I’ve had in the last year. So I had expectations. Jeb Dunnuck rated this very high and I agree: a nose that reminds me of northern Rhône with a meaty flinty mineral quality complimented by violets and purple fruit. The wine has a lithe quality with dry tannins tending towards an earl grey tea in character and medium finish I wish was longer. Overall, a good wine. Is it 3x’s better than the cheaper bottle….I would say yeah…sure. 2018 vintage, Powerline vineyard. — 3 months ago
Inky purple. Subtle blue fruit and pencil lead predominant on the nose. Shockingly soft tannins and surprising acidity. Way softer and more approachable than anticipated. This exceeded expectations. — 5 months ago
This is starting to come around: less vegetal with age. Starting to get notes of dark chocolate which adds a richness to the tart cherry and sage. Really nice with pasta with red sauce. — a month ago
Very drinkable, blue/red fruit carried by a medium body and lengthy finish. Pair with anything as the label insists. At 36 dollars, good value — 3 months ago
2020 vintage: Rich full wine though muted on the nose. Opulent on the palate with peach, pear, and lemon as predominant notes with a buttery honeycomb slightly honeysuckle back end. Nice Long finish. — 4 months ago
Richness unfurls onto palate with lemon verbena, white fruit….and a lengthy finish carried by ample acidity! Lovely! — 6 months ago
Faded ruby with orange highlights, nose strongly of camphor giving way to anisette and eventually rose petal. At this point very tight and reticent with tannins overpowering the palate. This is somewhat obtuse, clearly 2019 is needs time to come into balance. There is possibility here, very structured for sure…but red fruit buoyed by striking acidity with notes of tobacco/leather simmering in the background. My rating speaks to potential….2019 vintage. — 3 months ago
2014: spectacular at a decade. Could nose this all day. A special wine starting to develop those tertiary notes reminding one of Bordeaux. What a treat! — 4 months ago
Crystalline structure and fine effervescence with lemon curd, crème fraiche, apple, with fine minerality and moderately long finish. Really lovely! — 5 months ago

2017: for a warm vintage, a little thin when it comes to palatal heft. Finish drops off quickly…but Dark fruit and dark chocolate are present with savory herb. It’s fine, not great. — 20 days ago
