On the palate flavors of sour black cherry and plum with notes of pepper, smoky tobacco, vanilla and oak. Opened at 1 PM, started pouring into quite inappropriate glassware at 7PM.
Big shouldered, round, lots of carob hinting at dry cocoa, dark fruits. Tannins well integrated, many of the ‘16’s seem to be. Mouth filling. With protein very very nice. Brisket & lamb. Brown, blue and ochre on the nose and palate. A good number of years left I think.
No hint of over toast or barrel.
