This winery used to be quite commercial, but with the new generation coming on board they left everything behind.
They turned into a minimal intervention venture.
They inherited the fairly old vines, but the changed approach gives a completely different perspective.
This nero d'Avola is extremely out of the ordinary.
It's bright, crunchy, crisp, luminous, fresg, clean and, to my surprise for when i taste nero d'Avola, very elegant, very French like elegancy.
I think of Beaujolais or of some new style crunchy South Australian grenache.
This wine is fun to drink, not cerebral, i recommend you give it a go. If you don't like it, bring it to me.
Not expensive at all. — 10 months ago
Leggy, lovely and kind of peppery. Quite dry. Going well with some pate and cheese. — 5 years ago
A real Calabrian gem. Huge value — 2 years ago
Enjoying under $20 Italian wine. Gives me purple lips and teeth. High tannins? Dark thick fruit. Smooth. Short dry finish. — 4 years ago
Uploading all the wine fest fest tasters! This was one of my faves! — 7 years ago
Syrah made in a Sicilian style, nearly nero d'Avola like i would suggest.
Fresh, crunchy, vibrant.
Spadafora has become very much hands off in the last few years. Certified organic, wild fermentation and no sulphites added to this wine. I love the label that says 1.8kg per plant.
Great effort. — 5 months ago
Gift from Steve Kennedy and Spadafora, great bottle — 4 years ago
Ceccherini Cristiano
Crunchy, juicy, spicy and savoury expression of nero d'avola
Wild fermented if that matters
And no sulphites added
