Well, I keep trying to figure out how to slip a "z" in there, and claim it as my own! Bought it for the name (and Howell Mt), will keep buying for the taste. Decanted for 3 hrs. Bright, dry strawberries and cherry, cola, nice leather, and a little chalky stone. Wonderful nose. Paired with a rack of lamb (fennel seed, pepper, garlic and rosemary). Nice! 15.5 ABV, 9.2/3. — 7 years ago
2014 Boich Family Cellar Wall Road Terrace Syrah - Mount Veeder
@Paul T here is out Note on it:
Deep and dark ruby red. One of the most interesting and complex syrahs we have tried out of napa. Loving these mountain juices. The attack on the nose started out smoky with hints of tobacco, spices and lots of herbs. Both savory and dried. A bit of dark dried berries too. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Well balanced and restrained too. A bit smoky and gamey on the palate with a dried dark fruit undertones. Layers of earthiness, spices and cigar box. Long finish with a rocky and cedar like touch. Drink till 2031. — 8 years ago
Because who doesn’t love to celebrate national Cab Franc day? @rudiuswines is Brittany & Jeff Ames label. Jeff was an early understudy to Thomas Brown, working on Schrader, Maybach, and Outpost amongst others while he developed his own client list, including Tor Kenward, Boich, and Anthem. It’s worth noting that the wines Jeff has produced for Tor have been some of my favorites for at least a decade.
The 2014 Rudius Cabernet Franc Sugarloaf Vineyard Napa Valley envelopes your plate with a captivating display of mouthwatering raspberry, savory loam, sweet tobacco, and just the right hint of bell pepper before the cocoa powder dusted finish rocks your world. Delicious is an understatement. This was so spectacular I opened it two nights in a row (run don’t walk to Sunshine and steal it for $40). #delicious #rediculouslydelicious — 5 years ago

Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego
2018 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 20 mins and 2 hours. Medium-heavy body, Plenty of dark cherry influence in the nose and flavor profile. Some frontal palate richness but not nearly as many interpretations of this vineyard in the last decade or so. Less extracted and more honest so some points for that. A bit of a letdown on the back end regarding terroir/earthiness/soil. Well made and obvious pedigree but missing that special element. 8.8.24. — 3 months ago
