Better than 2018 - very generous showing how complex and complete a varietal Monastrell can be, lovely nose & palate - balanced w/impressive length on finish. Bump for QPR — 4 days ago

Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2010

Wine of the Year by WS in 2020. Revisiting this jewel is magical. Wine is aging incredibly well. Showing secondary and tertiary characteristics. The tannins are becoming fine grain and velvety. The fruit even more consentrated. — a month ago

Chris Ringland is their Wine Consultant. Chris is landing there this week to blend the new vintage.

I like this bottling for its quality & price point. Although the ABV is rising (15.5%), it really doesn’t show it.

The 21 is well made but needs another 7-8 yrs in bottle to reveal its better self.

Castillo de San Diego Palomino Fina 2021

ask the wine guy for something unusual, something off the beaten path and he recommends this delicious dry 100% Palomino w/some bottle age: definitely a food wine, light greenish straw color w/fairly austere nose full of minerals, lanolin, herbaceous musk, white flowers (jasmine), ginger & some spices. on palate it is rigid & angular, zesty acidity, some citrus but mostly minerals & herbs, quinine, screams for briny foods - we had this w/deli section fare & salad. — a month ago

12 Meses Silver Label Jumilla Monastrell 2022

Black currants, sweet oaky spices, cigar, coconut cream. Ripe, dark fruits, oaky spice (nutmeg, cinnamon), mild acidity, firm but smooth tannins. Some lingering grape candy.

A nice, affordable steak wine.
