Sparkling Cahors. — 10 years ago
Deep inky in color with a short purple rim. Not showing age at all.
Strong nose of plums, cherries, black currants, wood, cloves, light vegetables, herbs, forest floor, chocolates, pencil lead, dark coffee, wet leaves, earth and peppercorn.
Full bodied, bold, rich and extracted, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with black currants, cooked blueberries, oak, light vanilla, spices, light alcohol, river rocks, eucalyptus, mint, peppercorn, earth and pencil lead,
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a great 11 year old Malbec from the great 2009 vintage. Well balanced with a great mouthfeel and great complexity.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the complexity.
Could age nicely in the next 5 years, but so yummy already.

Good with food, but great all by itself too. A delicious sipping wine. Loved the long finish with the nice tannins.
I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.
100% Malbec grapes were aged in New French oak barrels for 24 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

💥 This hidden gem @ £15 is the best example Cahors I've found having spent time there - If you are going to try a Cahors make it Haute-Serre 👍 This 09 is amazing! But any vintage is great for the money 😉

Bellefluer de Haute Serre Brut Rose Cahors Sparkling Rose wine made with Malbec. Color from skin contact. Vibrant flavor and fruit on the nose. A first for me and very pleasant with the Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner. — 10 years ago

Absolutely beautiful wine: Tannic without being overly dry; fruity, without smacking of one fruit or another; balanced and quaffable astride flavorful, spice-heavy Haitian cuisine. Rich cinnamon did not overpower this wine; nor did the spicy heat of added sauces. Nuances of licorice and anise played well with the traditional Haitian ginger and cinnamon of tropical cuisine. I should say it was delightful, as I so rarely enjoy the balance of any wine so much that I drink an entire bottle alone. I highly recommend this Malbec with any tropical Atlantic island cuisine. — 9 months ago
