Bright aromas of apple and citrus with notes of lychee and pears. — 4 years ago
We recently pulled some cases out of storage, which haven't seen the light of day for nearly 15 years, so I'll have some fun posts in the next several months.
Nose has dried black cherry, dried tart cherry, dried black currant, slight eucalyptus, dark chocolate, stewed raisin, mashed blackberry, faint chalkboard dust and dried rose.
Palate has sweet prune, semi-dried black cherry, sweet-roasted red pepper, dried boysenberry, briar and dry earth. Honestly, somewhat reminiscent of an Amarone-style. Medium long finish is satisfying.
Decanted ~60 minutes. In an aged, but happy spot today, certainly ready to drink, but could likely make a 20th birthday in proper storage.
Unfined & Unfiltered, this bottle threw the most amount of sediment I can recall of any bottle we've ever opened, even in comparison to older Port or Zinfandel.

Is there anything better than sharing a good bottle of champagne with a friend? Yes. Sharing a great bottle of champagne with someone as you become good friends. The flavors of nostalgia and memories of childhood pair so well with the gorgeous seawater, brioche, lemon pith and wet chalkboard minerality of Champagne, as expressed by Pascal Agrapart, organic maestro of limestone, and in this case Chardonnay. One of my favorite champagnes. — 3 years ago
A stunning nose, wafts of deli-sliced ham mingling with ripe fruits, and a near-black dark color had me primed for a beastly wine - this did not disappoint. We opened it too early but all the elements are there: juicy plum, chalkboard, black pepper and soft tannins reminiscent of dark roast coffee. Looking forward to trying this again in a few years. — 6 years ago
Very nice rosé. Crisp and sweet but not too much so. — 3 years ago
Yummy yummy yummy. Nice mellow fruit and cream. Right up my alley, definitely buying again. Trader joe's? — 4 years ago
Juhfark!!!!!! Holding up beautifully as it converges towards the strange attractor that is the heart and soul of Somloi wines - liquid volcanic stones. Still offering a whisp of bee pollen and chamomile along with its rainwater and wet chalkboard core. #govolcanic — 4 years ago
Decanting now, can you believe this is the only 2013 CA wine in our cellar?! All the rest is hiding, appropriately out of reach, in off-site storage. 👍
We tasted this at a walk-around in November of 2018, and I was impressed then...
Nose has chalkboard dust, milk chocolate, ripe plum, ripe raspberry, black cherry and cut green pepper (light).
Palate has chalky plum, ripe cherry, medium tannins, light green herbal notes, light toasted oak (few year old barrels?) and milk chocolate.
Very impressed at how approachable this wine is tonight after only about 2hrs of decant. Showing quite nicely at about 5 years past vintage. 2013 was very strong for CA, going to be legendary in my opinion; likely my favorite vintage in the prior 10 years.

Loved this! It wasn't too dry, nor too sweet. Update: tried this again and it just tasted watery. Very disappointing. Will try it again for a final verdict. All the same year — 3 years ago
