Earthy burnt raisin on the nose, complex mineral and tannic charred berries. Very pleasant, wish we bought more!, anticipated since its purchase in Arcachon in 2017. — 4 years ago
Rocking Roussanne. The freshness on the palate of these micro cuvee St. Perays is just unreal. They drink like nothing else in the Rhone. If Pur Blanc is the Montrachet of the lineup then this is the Chevalier as this is an awesome elegant Roussanne. Like Grand Cru level. Stunning nose. So complex, yellow fruits, pear, mineral, tree bark, earthy, quince but so refined and clear. Amazingly clear actually. Yellow plum. The palate is masterful. Concentrated yet so elegant with such texture and just awesome balance. This is next level Roussanne made in tiny batches. What finish. Fruit is plum, yellow peach, mango, papaya, but so fresh and not vulgar. All class. Just nuts. — 6 years ago
Nose initially rich burnt pudding fruit with strong green capsicum across it, eventually balanced with 2-3 hours air. Palate very St Julien, bit spicy & merlot dominated. Less drive & life ahead than the Domaine de Chevalier alongside but delightful wine. Lighter mid-weight, best alongside lighter fowl. — 2 years ago
The second vintage and wow this is stunning. Leaps and bounds better than the 19 and the 19 was a great effort. Nose is buttery and confectionary with stunning mineral depth. Smells almost chevalier or batard like. Hoisted up by its own Batard. Dazzlingly pure and my goodness this is just so ultra refined. Really penetrates my nostrils like the aromas are almost solid objects. Unreal. Palate is deep, rich and bracing. Wow the acidity on this is brilliant with icing on a cake texture and just so refined, classy and long my goodness this is long. So pure and so sappy. Amazingly clean. Just an awesome bottle of St. Aubin. Nose develops wet stones, fresh sea air and lemon drop. The balance here is exceptional. Treacly and elegant. Serious and playful while also being incredibly long. The length here is not to believed. This is one of the finest St. Aubins I’ve ever had. I can’t imagine why this is not a 9.7, but want to see what air can do to this.
Wow the cotton candy confection is just off the charts. Stunning. So clean. So airy. This is what white burgundy is all about. Fruit is coming around. Superb citrus and Meyer lemon. Some lime as well. Rieslingesque. — 3 years ago
Nice full taste. — 6 years ago
Beautiful nose, ripe plums and blackcherry core, with cranberry and tart cherry. Subtle eucalyptus, tobacco, and olive tapenade. Roses. Racy minerality. Palate delivers ripe blackrasberry pie, clove, cedar box and cranberry. Persistent with balance and freshness. 50% Cabernet franc, 45% merlot, 5% Malbec. Grown on blue clay soils, with famous neighbors of Chevalier Blanc and La Dominique. Drink with short decant or hold. — 2 years ago
Musky leather raspberry and cherry smell, blood red, raspberry pops, earth, leather, wet and clear slight grass at end — 4 years ago
Beautiful.
Aroma is pungent. Smoothed tannins after an hour of being open. Everything a Saint-Emilion should be. Will be even better in a couple more years. — 5 years ago
Pretty good value for money. For 11.5 pounds really punching above its weight — 6 years ago
