Ca' La Bionda

Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2020

Opens on the nose with the smell of lees, underneath are early summer red 🍒 and a touch of balsamic and a touch of wood- maybe slovanian oak?
Tart, nice balance, refreshing and very drinkable. I was nervous to order it because it was listed under the 'Natural' wine selection but turns out that it's only organic and not bottle of kombucha. Excited to see that I might be able to find this for under $25.
Paid $54 at Commune in Columbus.

Bubulle Pét' Nat' Montlouis-sur-Loire Chenin Blanc 2018

Who says you can’t have bubbles on Monday night? Celebrating indigenous people, Columbus, Monday night football and my husband cleaning the garage! Snappy, bubbly, spunky, dry yet tart with pears, citrus and a little honey perhaps? — 3 years ago

I Think Manzanilla Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino

Sanlúcar de Barrameda was the port that Christopher Columbus set off from in 1492. Just 1 year earlier, duties on wine exports from Sanlúcar had been abolished to take advantage of English merchants desperate for new supply after the loss of Bordeaux.

It began a centuries-long romance between Sherry and English wine lovers, as immortalized in Shakespeare's Henry IV Part 2, when Falstaff glorifies sturdy Spanish 'sack' over thin Bordeaux 'claret' and Rhine 'hock'.

But the honeymoon, quite literally, was not to last. Henry VIII's divorce from Catherine of Aragon drove a wedge between England and Catholic Europe, and left English wine lovers in need of a new source once again. But Sherry fanatics wouldn't have to go entirely without. When Sir Francis Drake sailed into Cádiz and burned the Spanish fleet in 1587, he carried away 2,900 butts of Sherry - enough to supply London for years - as his most famous prize.

Functional Costco purchase @ $18.99. Delectable has this at $30. 🙄 Wouldn’t it be great for users & the app if we could buy wine through Delectable at more reasonable prices plus free shipping? Think of all the platform bugs Delectable could fix with the added revenue.

The nose shows; honeysuckle notes, ripe, ruby & sour lemons, overripe pineapple juice, dried apricots, yellow peach, touch of marmalade fruit, combo of white with shades of pink grapefruits, melted caramel, saline, limestone, soft, understated chalkiness, toasted nuts, candle wax, green leaves that are not quite eucalyptus, melted raw sugar, butterscotch notes with candied yellow lilies and a touch of mixed flower greens.

The body is; thick, full, round with high viscosity. Honeysuckle notes, ripe, ruby & sour lemons, overripe pineapple juice, dried apricots, yellow peach, tangerines, touch of marmalade fruit, combo of white with shades of pink grapefruits, melted caramel, vanilla, saline, white spice, limestone, dry, crushed volcanics, soft, understated chalkiness, toasted nuts, candle wax, warm toast, green leaves that are not quite eucalyptus, melted raw sugar, butterscotch notes with candied yellow lilies and a touch of mixed flower greens. The acidity is round and beautiful. The finish is; rich, ruby, elegant, well balanced fruit & earth and persists nicely for minutes.

Smashing with Turkish Dried Apricots.

Cheeses; Jasper Hill Alpha Tolman & Willoughby, Mimolette. Dried Turkish Apricots, Cashews & Columbus Italian Dry Salami. Otherwise, tonight’s dinner.
