Corduroy Skin Fermented White Blend 2019

Much lighter and dryer than I expected. Very refreshing without being overly acidic or tart — 4 years ago

Canned Oregon

White Pinot Gris

Melons and peaches and zippyness oh my! And a splendid texture I’ve likened to corduroy, but the type with small ribs. So it’s plush but also stuff but not in a bad way—just a way that has structure. — 5 years ago

Snake + Herring

'Calypso' Margaret River Merlot Cabernet Franc 2018

If you love your oaky and super flavoursome Chardonnay’s, then you need to get this Snake + Herring 2018 ‘Corduroy’ Chardonnay from Margaret River in your glass stat 🥰

I was gifted this bottle as part of my media sample Chef Collection pack from Wine Selectors (thank you!). This exciting 6-pack is a collaboration with Chef Miguel Maestre (aka @thecrazybull) so alongside the wines you get a recipe booklet full of Spanish recipes to match the wines 😋

The matched recipe for this yummy Chardonnay is ‘Caldero Murciano’ - fresh lobster 🦞 with a rice risotto type filling. It sounds and looks absolutely divine. Miguel can you come over and cook it for us please? 🤣

Unfortunately we had no lobster so it was Pan Con Tomate for us (bread, oil, salt, garlic and tomato). It was delicious though 😜

Here’s my notes on the wine:

It’s a delicious looking lemon colour in the glass. On the nose it has wonderful toasty aromas with butter, popcorn, melon, citrus, almonds and all the goodness of a beautifully oaked chardonnay. In the mouth it’s rich but oh so fresh at the same time. Absolutely satisfying!

This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Judge Family Vineyard Syrah 2015

Decanted for three hours and then transferred back to the bottle so we could more easily transport to a friend’s place. Consumed over the next several hours. I gotta say, this was magnificent and really blurs the lines between northern Rhône and California Syrah. Glass-staining purple with a powerful bouquet of blue fruits, bacon fat, lavender, smoke and some baking spice. On the palate, it was beautifully ripened blue and red fruits with olive loaf mortadella. One of the most distinctive characteristics however was the unique texture...like the softest corduroy imaginable: tactile yet velvety. Hard to explain but it is awesome. Tannins are very present but not overly obtrusive; a bit like State Troopers at a large sporting event; stern but fair. There’s good acid and the finish is long and makes me want to smack my tongue on the roof of my mouth. What a delicious new world Syrah with a very bright future ahead. Drink now with an extended decant or hold. I expect this will drink very well for decades to come. — 5 years ago

'Corduroy' Karridale Chardonnay

This wine is delicious! It could almost pass for a burgundy Chard! Lemon/nectarine/Citrus notes, perhaps a little vanilla, great minerality. A nice richness. Loved it and interested in exploring more from Western Australia! — 5 years ago

More texture than your favourite pair of corduroy pants with more flare than the jeans in the wardrobe from the 60’s
An absolute delight, thank you for bringing it home and sharing
