Donnachadh

Estate Syrah 2018

Northern rhone, cool climate California. Earth, blood, strawberries, boysenberry, menthol, rock. Very good with food. So different from Zaca Mesa I had last night. I like both for different reasons. — 6 days ago

Storm Wines

Donnachadh Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

Needed to decant. Black tea, cherries, baking spices, some apple, long finish that coats the palate. Ongoing cherry, spiced cider, good acidity. Just lovely. This has a very long life ahead of it. — 8 months ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1975

This 49 years old LLC was in the first sniff a bit dull, but then miraculously this grand master of BDX stood up and showed its pure class. Ok it’s not a young bastard but what a pleasure to drink with friends. — 8 months ago

Wines of Substance, LLC

Cs Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon

Substance makes one of the best <$20 wines I’ve had in the last year. So I had expectations. Jeb Dunnuck rated this very high and I agree: a nose that reminds me of northern Rhône with a meaty flinty mineral quality complimented by violets and purple fruit. The wine has a lithe quality with dry tannins tending towards an earl grey tea in character and medium finish I wish was longer. Overall, a good wine. Is it 3x’s better than the cheaper bottle….I would say yeah…sure. 2018 vintage, Powerline vineyard. — a month ago

667/115 Clones Donnachadh Vineyard, Blocks 3A and 3B Pinot Noir 2021

2021 vintage. Last tasted 2.1.24 (9.4) and 11.3.23 (9.3) starting to knit together a little better every visit. Medium body. Popping spice pieces in play. Excellent length of finish. 5.23.24. — 4 months ago

Bulgaria Red Blend 2014

Still great. I was wondering if it would hold 10 years after release, and it’s a hint more rusty, but the flavor has even more of that complex ‘old-wine’ stuff in it. — 8 months ago
