Exemplar. Barbera D ‘ Alba…balanced, smooth berries evident medium bodied wine. — 4 years ago
See previous Delectable Notes from June 2020. Very dark Ruby in colour. Ripe cherry and liquorice on nose and palate - cherry skins. A medium weight palate finishing with fine powdery tannins. Dolcetto is essentially a simple wine (went well with Quiche) but when made by a producer of the reputation of G D Vajra its a particularly good representation of the grape. See previous note from October 2021, 48 weeks ago. Not sure I’ve ever got my head around the characteristics of Dolcetto - like a detuned Nebbiolo. Notes as previous with fine chalky tannins. — 5 years ago

A great Barolo and for less than $60. Nebbiolo leather and spice on the nose. Typical high but well balanced acid on the palate with raspberry and bright red fruit. — 7 years ago
This is the best Barbera d’ Alba from Sottimano , started to drink this wine 15 years ago, new style more elegant, fruity and delicious to enjoy. Just a hint of oak, well done🙏🇮🇹 — 8 years ago
Fabulous wine. Whim of a bit since I needed a wine that started with D for my book club Friendsgiving! Getting more for Thanksgiving! — 3 years ago
D-friggin-licious. Light body, beautiful burgundy color, and light spice. Really easy sipping and great drinking. — 3 years ago

Cheeky little Italy Dolcetto D’ Alba — 7 years ago
Barbera d' Alba 2016 - Giacomo Fenocchio. Vibrant and fleshy, with a deep mineral vein pushing forward its sweet aromas of gooseberry, mulberry, licorice and cocoa powder. Sharp acidity and terroir-driven salinity intertwine with mounting flavors of sweet red berries and blood orange. Finishes pure and lean despite the 15% abv . Awesome! — 8 years ago
This weekend we opened the 2018 Domenico Clerico Azienda Agricola Di Viberti Giuliana-Monforte D' Alba Barolo.
On the nose there is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, licorice, roses, clay pots and dusty soil.
On the palate there is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, anise, rose hip, leather and dried herbs.
This wine is medium to full bodied medium+ to high acidity and medium+ firm tannins that move into a long red and black fruit leathery finish. Enjoy the weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 3 years ago
Yes. 9+…soft palate, great balance, deep red berry flavor dry nice finish almost elegant everyday or special day Barbera D Alba. — 5 years ago
A good year, a fine wine with balance and context. Good value. Red berries, light fruit and body medium; palate perfect with discernible tannins and dryness - right for a Barbera d' Alba. There are better Barberas but this is right for red meats, strong cheeses. — 6 years ago

My favorite Barbera d’ Alba anytime, fruity, fresh , delicious and very good Q/P🇮🇹🍷 — 7 years ago
Nicely balanced Barbera! Doing this after the fact...from memory. Recall great drinkability, fine balance with good fruit, mild palate, soft finish. A cut above most Barbera D’ Alba’s. — 8 years ago

Not sure I’ve selected the appropriate wine. Anyway, this one is super fruity but still dark. Black cherry and blackberries and maybe a little black currant—though black currant may be too strong a flavor here. — 2 years ago
