The fruit is slimmer than that of Mortet at the top, but well-matched creamy oak fattens the middle and the dark mineral layer provides solid foundation at the bottom. Bruno Clair wines are always austere like Bize’s, but slightly beefier and darker. There is a set of qualities here, class, enlightenment and restraint, that distinguishes the best from the rest. The highlight of my 2023 Harvest trip to Napa. This is a magnum from the Nickel’s personal wine cellar. Had the pleasure of enjoying over several hrs. Begun tasting at their underground cellar at the estate in the afternoon and finished over diner in the evening. The last glass reached a new level of enlightenment; the wine tasted young again with bright fruit; in complete harmony with with the acid, alcohol, tannins and nuances. Unforgettable experience. Mmm love me some mead.
Musky like an orange wine. Honey. Beautiful orange, gold, game of thronesy color. The aesthetics are just spot on. Wildflower.
It’s got that charm and fizz that great, well-balanced sour beers have.
Leads with a strong peach, honey, apricot note that flows into tangerine, and finally a little herbaceous kick of sage to finish.
