2006 vintage. Super smooth with the body of a world-class powerlifter-still wowza bigg. Spice componentry only noticeable on the finish...entry/mid palates echoing a gigantasaurus fruit presence and a heady sweet/savory mix. Tasted an hour after decanting and not throwing much sed. Personally, wanted a few speed bumps/cobblestones to point/cling to on the way to Plushyville but none enroute during this trip. 3.22.23 — 3 years ago

Our first stop on the Cape was the historic Estate of Klein Constantia, established in 1685 by the VOC Governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel. The Dutch established the Western Cape wine growing region in the 1600’s as a rest and resupply stop for their trading ships sailing around Africa enroute to their many trade partners of the Far East etc..
The nose reveals; slightly bruised apple & pear, white citrus, notes of apple cider, white peach, cream, vanillin notes, nice, soft chalkiness, gentle minerality with spring flowers and yellow lilies.
The body is quite light, lively, tightly beaded, rich creamy texture, slightly bruised apple & pear, white citrus, notes of apple cider, white peach, cream, vanillin & ginger notes, nice, soft chalkiness, heavier minerality one palate than the nose with spring flowers and lilies.

Still very good! Enjoyed and would get again — a year ago
2018 vintage. Oak a little showier than last visit 4.20.24. *Full disclosure* Probably my favorite CA cabernet for QPR purposes-year in, year out-since the early 90's. Not inexpensive, yet, in a world of ridiculous CA cab pricing, this is a bargain. Had I storage space and projected lifespan, would pick up two cases and crack a bottle every year starting in 2028. Some overt baby fat/oak to dissipate in anticipation. Currently, wanting more structure and depth but, given the track record with this wine/producer, it's enroute. 5.29.24. — 2 years ago

2022 vintage. One of the best Rosso Di Montalcino wines I’ve had since our romp through Montalcino enroute to Sorrento in the summer of 2017. Excellent Sangiovese, pleasant floral aromas of black cherry on the nose, vibrant ruby red colors on the initial pour, soft tannins and a delicately structured taste with a light finish; not as harsh as a Brunello, this vintage is perfect. Continued to open up after the first hour, this paired extremely well with a spicy pasta and meatballs dish. Would enjoy again. — 11 hours ago
