Bracing acidity backs up mellow green and yellow fruit, with a load of awesome minerality. Drink immediately and with fervor or lay down and drink later with fervor; enjoy forever. — 8 years ago
Super pretty nose leads you into a surprisingly powerful, tense and very deep palate. The superfine talc-like tannins immediately stood this apart from “normal” Shiraz. These tannins are prominent and begging for some food. — 2 years ago
There is a level of density and class to the Rias Biaxas of Nanclares which seems to elevate the wines above the rest of the appellation. Quintessential but out of the ordinary. Reminds me of the ways that Dagueneau or Miani transcends. This 2013 has pedigree and such a youthful fervor, no hurry here. — 6 years ago
I adore this wine, and Backyard has the good nature to have it by the glass. Fresh green pepper and strawberry aromas; crisp linen; roundness and heft as well. Lots of acid, and lots of finesse. I've been wanting this wine with fervor lately! — 9 years ago
I’ve been “into” Italian wines for several years now, with nerdy fervor. And it still amazes me that I can run into wines/varietals/DOCs that I’ve never heard of. This is the beauty and allure of this avocation. Restrained red fruit and tannins, in fact everything is in moderation. But the mouthfeel is silky, and the complexity from pepper and herbs is sublime. Overall this is easy drinking but with enough stuffing to handle all but the most serious food pairings. — 6 years ago
In a "I'm prepping for the WSETs exam" fervor opened two pinots in one night to compare/contrast. While I am still waiting for this one to open I'm already digging it more than the last. This one is more perfumed and delicate. Slightly less raw than the Russian River one, albeit some of the grapes in both come from the Peters Vineyard. The nose is fresh and floral. The body medium. The acid is perfectly balanced. There is a good deal of apple and perhaps a hint of lush blackberry? The finish is long and lingering. I bought two of the other Kokomo Russian River Pinot but wish I'd gotten two of this instead. Not that the other was bad AT ALL but this one is special. Perhaps the other requires some food pairing to bring out the magic. Will experiment with that second bottle. — 8 years ago
Heidi Schrock 2014 Rosé Biscaya, Burgenland | 12% | From the warm continental (what they call Pannonian) climate of Neusiedlersee-Huggeland in Burgenland –Austria’s eastern most wine region pressed against the Hungarian frontier, this vintage seems to have dropped the St Laurent of previous vintages and is made of 40% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Pinot Noir although Heidi admits to using eight varieties in all –each in supporting roles. It’s a beautiful rosy red with a fragrant headful of umeboshi pickled plums of Japan for their tension of salty tart fruit and their fragrant shiso perilla leaf lift, but other fruit wafts up bright and fresh. Red currants and white cherries all carry over as well onto the palate –a scrumptious sip of tang and texture, brine and savor –for which it bears that saltwater taffy charm that I love about this rosé –in a watering-at-the-corners-of-the-mouth sort of way. It’s appealing in a way I’d never known before it –like feelings of fervor among inchoate lovers before which everything seemed so certain and after which the world seemed wide. Prepare yourself for a first kiss where red fruit orchards meet the sea. Food? Who needs food? …if I were to dream up a dish for this specifically it might involve a crispy rendered duck breast with a compote of those gamey black currants but you name it: pork chops, schnitzel, tempura, or citrus poached fish of the herring family.

I’m a huge fan of Fervor wines. Nonna Diana is a beautiful floral rich Fiano from West Australian Southern zone winemakers. I’m guessing this is contract fruit from over the desert and Nonna would be extremely proud of her voluptuousness — 8 months ago
