Just coming into its drinking window with notes of chocolate, damp earth, and lush fruit. Enough acid to foretell a great future for this St. Exupery. If you have, I would hold, it's only going to get better. — 9 years ago
From one of the oldest producers of vino nobile, this amazing 2013 gattavecchi offers everything is right with this wine leaving every defect out of the door. The color is a deep, brilliant dark ruby, charming and foretell of the pleasures this product can offer. Ripe plum and raspberry are dominant, with delicate touch of age in the form of leather and mild spices. A touch of vanilla complete this wonderful palette of flavours. High, vibrant acidity, perfectly matched by powerful green tannins and a deep alcol flow. Everything is perfectly balanced, leaving a clean and memorable palate. If we want to find a mistake, the aftertaste is not as durable as I would have wished. But at this price tag, there are few matches. Wonderful with boar, my perfect match is a traditional Tuscan pasta, pici with ragu. 5 years is its top maturation age, drink it now or regret it forever.

This Sonoma County Zinfandel has a medium dark ruby tinto to it, and it smells of brambly raspberry and blackberry with an undercurrent of leather, cigars and spice. The nose doesn’t really foretell of an amazing palate experience, but that’s what it delivers. The fruit is carried along on a savory wave of earth, minerals and tobacco. Oh my, this is a good Zinfandel - and I would say that even if I were not a big fan of the grape. — 4 years ago
