I’m baaaack! I’m sure no one missed me but I’ve been off the app for a while. Lots of life happening. So. Decided to jump back on due to a new to me Rose’ that I discovered. Germans can make wine! This is a wonderful deck wine with all types of food or by itself to celebrate the end of a long day. Everyone has described this wine spot on. For me though I get a slight hint of cinnamon on the end and the acidity is primo with smoked meats or a nice charcuterie! Love finding new gems! Enjoy. PS. After a disappointing evening wine wise the Germans don’t disappoint.

Nose is deep dense blackberries. Some earth. After 30 minutes it gets some crazy savory depth.

Palate is dense blackberries. Some licorice. Round and a brilliant food wine. Very good deliciousness. After 30 minutes more serious. 1er cru serious. More dense. Gods licorice. Longer.

German pinot is the escape hatch for people priced out of burgundy. Don’t look back.

FWIW I’m having with veal tongue with shallots in a basilicata pepper white wine butter sauce.

Cool blend from Pfalz...vegetal tones jump out on nose...but palate more restrained..elevated acidity but a very pleasant light lemon peel ..unique blend Pinot blanc/reisling/Sauvignon blanc ...zeee Germans!!! — 5 years ago

Damn, the Germans have just laid down a great hand of cards in the Sauvignon Blanc game.
More tropical and spice notes than Loire or NZ, actually, strangely the nose is more similar (yet more elegant and restrained) to the finer North American SBs I've tried. Minerality is medium and hard to pick out a soil type. Acidity is on the lower side.
Flavours follow the nose with pineapple, pear, allspice, Rainier cherry.
I favored the bottle that was open for an hour+. The new bottle gave me a very 2022 sense (ie: a young tart) — 7 months ago

When in Germany, you drink a lot of lager low alcohol beers but stick to what you know when it comes to wine. The Germans have like 15 types of red wine but in the end it seems you’re always stuck with a bland Pinot noir. — 5 years ago
