Lovely nose. Brambly spices and mega cherries. Loads of minerals. Alive and just so aromatic. Seems to be in the zone. Wow. 9.4 nose. So good now. Palate is elegant, sweet and complex with major minerality. Lovely toothsome quality and black cherries on the finish. This is really transforming with age into something essentially German. Sappy and a hint of rusticity make this utterly charming. Long finish. Wonderful wine and value.

This needs 30 minutes but then oh baby. Gorgeous spice, tart sour cherries, cherry flower and almost a cherry perfume, some hints of framing oak, incredible limestone minerality. So fragrant. Juicy, textured, bright and substantial on the palate with lovely a midpalate hit of serious ample well defined cherry fruit and cracking acidity that keeps it insanely fresh. Ripe and velvety tannins give this a killer backbone. This will improve with 2-3 years of aging and hang on for 7-9 more years. Killer wine. A bit more closed than in December 2018.

This is a stupid great value and can easily cellar 10+ years. What a wine. Initially the nose is quite demure. The palate is exquisite off the bat but the nose needs coaxing. But once I coax it is epic. Like 2010 Burgundy is what 2016 German Pinot reminds me of. The aromas are red berry fruit, cranberry, a multitude of spices. Earth, mineral and limestone. Wow. What an aroma. Just lovely once it gets going. So fresh on the palate with just supernal balance. Lovely dusty tannins really coat the palate but balanced with very pretty cherry fruit and precise minerality. The precision and depth of this wine is very impressive.

After a disappointing evening wine wise the Germans don’t disappoint.

Nose is deep dense blackberries. Some earth. After 30 minutes it gets some crazy savory depth.

Palate is dense blackberries. Some licorice. Round and a brilliant food wine. Very good deliciousness. After 30 minutes more serious. 1er cru serious. More dense. Gods licorice. Longer.

German pinot is the escape hatch for people priced out of burgundy. Don’t look back.

FWIW I’m having with veal tongue with shallots in a basilicata pepper white wine butter sauce.

Bought from fass selections.

Very interesting German wine. I felt a lot of #pinotnoir (from color to taste). Very fruity and easy to drink. A little more refreshing than I expected - maybe the temperature was a little lower.
