From the east hill, pignolo, 2008. A rare grape a lovely deep coloured, aromatic wine with abit of raisin sweet, a bit of souple leather and a slight alcoholic kick that resembles grappa. — 5 years ago

A stately, well-structured red from Friuli. This one had the maturity and mellow character of a wine almost a decade old. The tannins, though no doubt softened over the years, provided enough structure to allow this schioppettino to continue ageing, even if only for a couple more years. Blueberries and vanilla were present on the nose, whereas the palate presented flavors of prunes, raisins, plums, and a hint of tobacco. Very happy to have procured this bottle; it was a great pairing for our Easter leg of lamb! 100% Schioppettino. 4/17/22. — 3 years ago
