Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend 2018

2018. Probably my favorite Ridge Zinfandel that I’ve had. Could be that I found it in Delta Junction and wasn’t expecting it to be this delicious, or that it paired great with our homemade chicken parmigiana. — 9 days ago

Very nice CA aromas & OK palate & finish. Suspect that the RS is 1-2%. Easy drinking red wine. — a month ago

Patz & Hall

Alder Springs Vineyard Chardonnay 1997

From magnum. This was the first vintage of Patz & Hall “Alder Springs Vineyard” Chardonnay. At the point of blending a flicker of original youthfulness with otherwise fully matured Chardonnay flavors. This is why we drink older wines. Rich, complex spice and toast, notes of tangerine, beeswax, dried apple, caramel, wildflower, sea breeze, exotic perfume, kiwi, crushed rock. A moderate yellow color. I was there when the grapes were picked. Short of help, we all pitched in to harvest. A miracle. — 3 months ago

Flora Springs

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1985

Christmas Day wine 🎄🎅🏼🍷

Acquired this for two reasons: Flora Springs was my “a-ha” wine 10yrs ago which started my wine journey, and secondly because it’s my sister-in-law’s birth year.

Enjoyed on Christmas Day (with said sister-in-law) and family (the family who introduced me to wine + Flora Springs). Kept the bottle standing for a few days. In the glass, there was bricking but the color was much more vibrant than expected. Aromatically, it showed mushroom and fig, but a good bit of muddled red and black berry fruit, some mint as well. Alive, elegant and bright on the palate with good tannin structure (held strong the two hours it was open). Small hint of tobacco at the finish, but the berry fruit stayed persistent keeping the flavors balanced. Undeniably older Napa (13%) and in great shape.
