Clos de la Maréchale Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2009

Medium deep ruby , garnet . Quite rich and deep fruits , with some dusty herbal elements . On the palate also quiet ripe and rich , sweetly fruited . Dark cherry , with some summer fruits , blackberry . Good balance however , with sweet tannin and balanced acidity . Still showing lots of fruit , but drinking now but can can last well , probably improve over the next 5 years or so . — 4 days ago

Musigny Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2007

Celebrate birthday, the 2007 DJP Musigny drinking nicely, smooth and savory. But as comparison wise , I love the Jacques Fredric Mugnier Nuits-St-Georges 2014 better than this. — 3 years ago

Lavaux St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2012

Upon uncorking the bottle, we felt it was the most structured and bold out of all the wines. Poured into the decanter and revisited after two hours. By then the nose had blossomed into seductive aromas of red cherries and earth, which made us all point to GC in the blind tasting. As the Mugnier developed over the course of the evening, this kept singing and staying linear as indicative of it's youth. Second favorite WOTN. — 7 years ago

Les Amoureuses Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2006

. Wow. An unusual dark berry with subtle Indian spice that is both bold and elegance emerges to win the day. This 1er Cru is just entering a nice drinking window and could rest another 30 years. Lovely juice. — 6 months ago

Clos des Fourches Nuits St. Georges Pinot Noir

2005. So freaking smooth. Great balance. Little dark fruit tartness toward back. Wish had a touch more young fruit on the front. But so good. — 4 years ago

Lavaut St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2008

Torn. Needed to pick up some wine from east bank but didn’t get it done this week. Do I not have wine with prime ribeye, or do I crack one of my favorites that I had hoped to keep for a bit longer... and, now I have one fewer. :) — 7 years ago

Les Fuées Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

2013 at top level continues to drink fabulously, and Mugnier’s Fuées, a magical vineyard and essentially a southern extension of Bonnes Mares, is stunning today on pnp (although last sips were the best) wafting layers of sweet strawberry-rhubarb, sous bois, rose petals, game and smoky minerals. It’s liquid velvet in the mouth with an energetic spine of cool minerality and balanced acids adding freshness and focus to its delivery. It’s simply a beguiling combination of power and elegance and a superb expression of the vintage. — 7 months ago
