La Chartreuse De Croizet Bages

Château Croizet-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

2022 vintage. Another good effort from this Pauillac that was an underachiever for many years, but it is definitely not in the same league as the excellent 2020. Good concentration, and ripe, slightly jammy fruit. While the oak is perfectly integrated, it is too toasted for my taste. If you like that, you will score this higher. Abv. 14,5%. Totally blown away by the extraordinary Gloria 2022 tasted alongside. — 12 days ago

Château Gloria

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

2022 vintage. Deep dark red, with purplish rim. Very attractive nose already, with cassis, blackberries, raspberries, flowers and subtle cedar.
Midweight, with layers of succulent black and red fruits and fresh acidity, embedded in a ripe tannic structure. Great length, with a distinctive mineral touch. Not sure if it is as good as the incredible 2016, but a close contender for one of the best wines ever for this estate. Abv. 13%. It totally outperforms the Croizet Bages 2022 tasted alongside.

Château Rauzan-Gassies

L'Orme Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. From 30 hectares in Haut-Medoc, owned by the Quié family ( also Rauzan-Gassies and Croizet-Bages). A fine effort, showing that the Quié family is finally serious about quality, after decades of mediocrity. Much more evolved in colour compared to the 2019 Moulin de La Lagune tasted alongside. Ripe, slightly jammy fruit. Serve slightly cold to keep the high alcohol ( 15% abv.) in check. — a year ago

This wine is going to surprise a few people this year. Soft tannins and nice florals already. — 9 years ago
