Ugolforte Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Medium orange-rimmed ruby in color. Not too expressive on the nose: some dried flowers, albeit with stems and potting soil. Medium plus bodied. Medium minus acidity. Dry with nice initial palate feel but then gives way to bitterness and somewhat rough tannins. Medium alcohol at 14.0ABV but feels hotter. Some cranberry/unripe strawberry left, but not much else--pehaps some woody vanilla. At 8 years old, I would expect some tertiary flavors to have begun to develop. I don't think this is improving. It's a strong Brunello with a stiff upper lip, would pair well with a Florentine steak, but not elegant.

Smoky deliciousness w a beam of refreshing acidity. Dark sous bois and black cherries. Lively palate, great w funky cheeses. A house favorite.

Powerful, and concentrated, marked sweetness; wide mouths with balanced tannins, well-integrated alcohol despite its 15 degrees. Deep nose with ripe fruits, and spices, raisins, prunes, fig confit. Orange blossoms, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco, underwood. Remanent finish, Intense wine. To drink in 5/10 years

Puissant, et concentré, sucrosité marquée; bouches ample aux tanins équilibrés, alcool bien intégré en dépit de ses 15 degrés.
Nez dense de fruits mûres, et d’épices, raisins secs, pruneaux, confit de figue. Fleurs d’oranger, vanille, chocolat, tabac, sous-Bois. Finale rémanente sur le bouquet du nez. Vin intense. Doit vieillir. — 2 years ago
